I am trying to download free apps and it keeps asking me for my credit card information

This is my first iPhone I just bought it yesterday can you help me install the apps I had on my android phone

Welcome to iMore! iTunes requires a valid payment credit card on file, even for free apps. As @BBMaverick stated, you need to update your credit card information:
1. Open iTunes Store or App Store on your phone
2. Scroll down to the bottom and tap on your Apple ID
3. Tap on View Apple ID
4. Enter your password
5. Tap on Payment Information
6. Update your info

Why does a person have to put in your password to get receive FREE apps??????
