Can you not simply use the Spotlight search function to locate a contact in mere seconds?

Umm... did you know that when you put a contact on favorites and Do Not Disturb is on, you will still get notified of any communication from them?

That's not necessarily true.

In Settings > Do Not Disturb you can specify which calls will come through.
