I cannot find a way to make the system open only the E-MAILs I choose to open when I choose to open them. If I delete one, the next one, either above or below the one I am deleting, is opened. How can I stop it from hopping to the next message and opening it?

Welcome to iMore! This behavior is by design and cannot be changed. Delete the email by swiping left over it from your inbox instead.

Delete the email while it's on the inbox. If you delete it in the open page, the next email will appear. Delete this way.

Thanks to both of you for coming to my rescue. Yelling at your computer isnt healthy. I can now face dealing with E-MAIL in a dread-free zone.
