    Yes, all apps and phone functions will lose access to 3G, LTE, etc. you can still use wifi however if you have access to it.

    Turning off cellular data can be helpful if you're nearing your data cap and don't want or need to increase it.

    Not unlike airplane mode. You can still play games, listen to music (as long as it's not cloud based/streamed) etc.
