New 'iPhone 6S' Leak Confirms An Increase In Base Storage Capacities - Forbes

...Guess Apple wants to keep up with the Joneses, and are going to a 32GB baseline (which is what a lot of users wanted anyways).

Business wise I don't really understand this, since the 16GB was a very solid seller...but knowing Apple's constant strive to keep the consumer base happy and retain their top notch consumer satisfaction rating, this was inevitable.

I think I'll still be getting a 64GB model myself.

Any more, anything less than 32GB is rather a waste of resources IMO...

I'm not certain 16GB is what people actually want, it's more so what people want to pay, since it is the cheapest option. With higher resolution cameras, HD movies, and apps taking up more storage, 32GB makes a more user friendly starting point.

Good point. Let the previous generation iPhones be the 16 GB selections people can get and that's it.

Yea. I will not miss the 16GB option. Let 32-256GB be the new range.

For the same price, I don't think anyone would turn down the 32 gb in favor of the 16 gb. But most do make do with the 16 gb. Many do it with ease. I know people with maybe 30 downloaded apps and 5 gb of music with 5 gb available and they're happy. I've used 8.5 gb of my storage capacity of 12.5 gb. I would like to have a bit more. And 32 might fit me better than the 64. I don't have much music, and don't plan on paying a fortune to get more. $1.29 per song can add up quickly. So, I'm hoping this is not rumor. I could apply the $100 savings to purchase Applecare+ or a nice case. But if no 32 is offered, I'll get the 64.

I think 16GB will at least still be available in Apple's low-end option (6c).

16 gb has always been fine for me. It's never been an issue of price. But I'll gladly take a 32gb for the same price.

Though I'm glad I've got 64GB, I too can function just fine with a 16GB device...

Part of me hopes that the 16GB variant sticks around for the next-gen just so I can read the armchair CEO takes here at iMore.

This changes the game for me also, I don't think I would like force touch on my iPhone though.

As long as it can be easily disabled I'll be okay with it. On Android devices haptic feedback does nothing but waste battery IME so if force touch is anything along those lines I'll just want to disable it.

This is a good thing, like anything that is software that grows for each software update; operating system, applications that hold a large amount of data, 16GB is minuscule. However apple should pay attention to the iPhone 5c that they are releasing with 8GB of storage.

I'm glad they might do this, it would definitely benefit the consumer. It won't effect me though, because I always buy the second tier storage option. Base model storage has never been enough on any device I've owned.

Lol. Why couldn't the iPhone 6 start at 32GB? My dad would only get me the base model 6 or 6 plus. But I'd just fill that with a bunch of useless stuff anyway.

32GB is usually plenty enough for me. So, why do I have a 128GB 6 Plus (that has more than 90GB free on it)? I'm still trying to figure that out but not complaining.

I don't want movies on my phone. I watch a movie once, then that's it. I do watch some more than once, but only because that's what's on TV. I just need enough space for about 6 gb of music, 10 gb of apps and 1 gb of photos. A 32 gb phone should leave me plenty of wiggle room. It'll only be for 2 years.

Oh, if I enjoy a movie I can watch more than once. Sometimes I get more out of it the 2nd time around. Then, with my favorites, I like to watch once or twice every 2 to 3 years.
