In the past couple of days, I've been getting these pop ups on my iPad that tell me to create a new iCloud security code because of a change of servers.
And I can't quite put my finger on it, but this feels virusy to me.
When I tapped "find out more" it took me to an Apple page that "couldn't find the article I was looking for".

Can someone explain this to me?

Phishing... Don't do it via the pop-up...

See if you can screen shot it next time. Where does the pop up occur? On an app, Safari, or anywhere?

I will. It doesn't happen all the time but I'll post it here when it does.

The pop up has changed a bit, now it looks like this:

    Create new iCloud security code?-imageuploadedbyimore-forums1434551569.531520.jpg

Until last night it gave me a "not now" option.

Go to Settings -> iCloud-> Keychain-> Advanced and change your security code there.

The security code... Is it the 4 digit PIN number I use in place of Touch ID?

I use the 4 digit code as well. But never have seen that pop up. Your code should have nothing to do with any servers.?

That's what I thought. Also it only happens with my iPad never my phone. I will try stopping by the Genius Bar tonight so they can look at it.

No. It's talking about a code that you set up when you enable iCloud Keychain.

    Damnit.
Well for what it's worth, at least this time I used the brains my mamma gave me: I didn't click and I didn't reset anything.

Boy do I feel dumb now:

I called Apple support, they said it's not phishing, and to turn off the keychain, delete everything on it and start over.
And if it happens again then I should call them back.

    Not phishing? Then what?

No clue. If it happens again, we'll have to figure out why I'm being prompted to change the code. Right now it's turned off.

Did you ask if there is ever a reason Apple would send that message? All my 4 digit codes are the same. I don't want to get locked out. I have 1Password now though.

This isn't a 4 digit code though. This is specifically related to iCloud Keychain which is a much longer code. I store mine in 1Password too though.

I don't recall a long code for Keychain. Do you mean one we created?

When you change the code from the screen that Karen provided, you click on "Advanced Options" on the code screen to create a more complex one.

All I recall is a 4 digit code as with restrictions. I don't think I ever made a more complex code. I never knew it was available to do so. Not that I recall. I've seen where you refer. But I thought it was to change to a different 4 digit code.
I Google this, and it said the option was there to auto generate a more complex code or choose any one, including a 4 digit code. I choose the 4 digit code and stuck with it.
