Should the iPhone be turned off before charging it?

My Grand-Daughter said that one should not turn I-Phones off.

No offense to your grand daughter but makes no difference. I personally don't turn mine off.

Not at all, it'll charge faster. It's not necessary though.

It will charge just fine while turned off. It may even charge a bit faster that way. Either way will work.

I turn mine into airplane mode then charge! It's like 10x faster

You can turn it off, but soon as you plug it in, it will automatically turn back on.

Hardly! Tests show it averages to about 3 to 6 minutes saved per charge. You can get the same results by charging with the phone powered off. Airplane mode is slightly better though.

As Smart mentioned, the minute you plug it in it will turn back on. So there really is no point.

I charged my iPhone when it's on and sometimes when it's off, and I've done that with all of them over the years. I've yet to notice any negative effects from doing so. Now, to answer your question, the answer is "it doesn't matter" if the phone is on or off during charging times.
