When you received your iPhone for the first time, did you have to read the manual to operate it or were you savvy enough to operate it within minutes or hours on your own? Personally, I didn't need to read the manual to operate it. What about you?

I did some research, but the best part of a new device is finding your way around. But to answer the question I didn't find it be to difficult.

I downloaded the manual from Apple but dove in and started playing and asking until I had it pretty well to my satisfaction and just learned as i went.

I don't even recall there BEING a manual. A manual comes with the iPhone? I thought there were just warranty-type documents.

I had pretty much memorized Apple's iPhone info page since that was all I had to look at during the first half of 2007. When I finally had the iPhone in my hands I was ready for it.

Did it come with one? I don't think mine did. If I had questions, I asked here.

TAP SHIFT TWICE (I'm not shouting, just posting by example ). When it turns blue, it's locked. Tap again to turn it off.

Manuals? What are those? I had already used android for a few years when I got my first iPhone 4. So I just played around for a few days until I got the hang of it.

I love reading the manuals for any new piece of electronics I get! It may seem juvenile, but I like it. It makes me feel special for owning it lol

It's not juvenile at all, my friend. I'll go through a manual eventually and almost always end up discovering things I had not known and then get mad at myself for not knowing about it...

Right out of the box for the basic things like calling, texting, using the internet of course not. Apple intended for the device to work as such. I mean after a few minutes of tinkering most people who are new to Apple probably do read the manual but you don't really need to. I personally did not need it at all plus there was one in my browser.

Since I was coming from Android, it took a little getting used to. A lack of Swype and no back button were the hardest to adapt for me. However, after less than a week I'd jailbroken it.
