I'm personally excited about getting advertisements through my nest thermostat now that google owns it...

"Hey, you turned the temp up...your local Walmart has heated throw blankets on sale this weekend! Press screen for details!"

...all kidding aside though, I love our nest...it's seriously one of the best things we bought for our condo (which is hard to maintain temp in because it's higher up).

Nah, GOOG already knew it. In fact, they're the ones who told the NSA.

I doubt it; google is good at this stuff.

I never thought that google would be running with Apple and Microsoft in technology. Crazy what the years bring.

I have been contemplating one for a little while now for my condo. Not sure how much I would like it. I keep hoping Verizon has a good sale on them. We get 35% off

I guess they bought nest to acquire their team not their product. Engineers at nest are good at hardware designs which google lacks.

I'm sure it was partly about the team and possibly the way that Nest has been able to scale its production of hardware.

It's really worth it...the learning system on it alone was night and day better than the Honeywell one we had before (and it was the best one they offered in their line up!).

I just watched a video on it and it said something about it sensor when people are not home and adjusting the temp according- I have two large dogs- do you think that will mess with the sensor?

It will likely depend on where and how you mount it. Mine's installed in the hallway near my garage entrance. My dog (a small Pug) has never set it off. I'm thinking because it's in a relatively narrow hallway, the sensor doesn't have as deep a field of view, and as such, can't pick up anything passing directly below it.

Blackberry Guy explained it best...you have to mount it in a way where they wouldn't pick up on it's sensor. We mounted ours where our old thermostat was, but it just happened to be an area where it doesn't have a very far line of site for foot traffic, so unless dogs started walking upright on their back legs, it'd never see them.

You haven't met my dogs lol. I have always been curious what they do when we aren't home. And now I have the far side cartoon of the cows standing upright drinking coffee in my head.
