I recently got myself my first ever MacBook pro. I love it. I went ahead and spent the money for the top of the line one. I needed to burn a dvd today and suddenly my need for a burner was evident. I don't do a lot of burning but I need something for those moments. What are your experiences? Are there certain ones you would recommend? Is certain software needed? Thank you for all the help.

This is what I would recommend: Apple USB SuperDrive (see below). And no, you will not need any additional software.

Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple Store (U.S.)

This solution (SuperDrive and no additional software) will work for reading/burning DVDs, however, you WILL need both a different device and additional software to read/burn BluRay disks.

Thank you for pointing this out . . . . I've never burned a BluRay disk.
