How old of a Mac can I have and still develop Watch apps?

I don't own a Mac yet but need to buy one of course to be able to build Watch apps. Maybe can't buy new right now so need to know how far back I can go on the used market for a MacBook or Mini. I guess it depends on how old of a platform that xCode 6 will run on. Is that right?

The mid 2008 MacBook Pro is still getting Yosemite updates... And the newest Xcode...
