Hi all,

I'm interested in making an app, specifically, a companion to a video game console. Is it OK if I use photos of the console that I find online or take myself, or would I be violating some sort of copyright?

I plan to give the app away free and to not include ads, and there's no way I can profit.

Thanks.

You need permission of the copyright holder to use any copyright material, as you are using their image for your profit. Better don't risk.

I think it would be ok if its a non-profit app, specially if u make the consol images ur self and not use the official logo artwork of the consoles.

Just a million times better if you use your own images. Not only will it be accepted by apple but it will have that uniqueness in it. And remember the more you draw and use paint packages etc... the better your next images will be. Some packages help your drawing a lot when you get the hang of it.
