I'm looking to create a vlogger-friendly video recording app, where one can use either camera to record video that is 16:9.
I want the user to be able to hold the device in portrait mode, like they would with a Flip video, but record in Landscape regardless (because portrait video is the most useless thing ever). Is it possible to re-program the camera sensors in this way for the app?
Also, is it actually possible to have the video cropped to 16:9 from 640x480 input (front-facing cam)?

Should be doabledidn't Qik or Ustream use a square recording format in portrait?
Good point! I'm not sure though if they are actually using landscape input, or just cropping the portrait video... Although I guess it doesn't matter since if it's square, either way it would be 480x480. But I'd ideally like to be able to record 640x360 while in portrait mode.
