App closes immediately in SDK simulator

I recently started playing with iPhone SDK.
Been studying "Beginning iPhone 3 Development Exploring the iPhone SDK" by Dave Mark and Jeff LaMarche.
I'm up to chapter 4 and stuck now.
Whenever I Build and Run, the app opens then closes itself immediately on the simulator. All I see is a black background for few seconds.
Can someone please tell me why?
If anyone has read the same book, everything was fine up to the slider part (page 81), so I'm guessing I did something wrong between there and page 87?

I realize this reply is late, but I have been MIA from the forums. If you haven't found your response yet, here is my suggestion...

Open up your Console view before Build and Run. Run -> Console or (Shift + Command + R). In there you will see what is going on.

I had this very exact problem. Mine was being caused by a missing view outlet. Corrected that and BAM, the app launched again.
