Hi, I have much experience as a system administrator but not programming and certainly not Objective-C. I would appreciate recommendations on starting a development course--what prep should I have beforehand, recommended courses to take, etc. I am disabled and can no longer work at my former job but can sit and learn.

    Thanks all for your input.

Doesn't that class have prerequisites though? I'm also in a position of having what I believe are some compelling ideas, but don't have the development background to hit the ground developing.

I would love to find someone who could partner or tutor through a knowledge development course.

I started out by reading a few books. Start by reading a book called "Programming in Objective-C 2.0". This was very helpful. It does not focus on iPhone development until the end, but you will likely find many iPhone books difficult to understand unless you grasp the basics of obj-c.

Afterwards, I read a book called "the iPhone cookbook".
