So I just did an observation here in my local zip code (72701) after I thought I wanted to switch to a RAZR MAXX on Verizon for the battery life, android os, etc, etc (I get this urge every so often, but seem to be coming back to iOS all the time). Even though my area is an LTE area, I decided to turn the LTE off and test apples to apples on Verizon's 3G network with Sprint 3G network. My latest test showed the following:
    Sprint iPhone 4S- Ping- 279ms; Download 0.78Mbps; Upload 0.65Mbps.
Verizon Droid Razr Maxx- Ping 220ms; Download- 0.14Mbps; Upload 0.37 Mbps.

Still not what I would like, but in that test, it did beat Verizon!

The area that you are conducting your speed test has a lot to do with the results that you get. I'm guessing Verizon doesn't have as strong coverage as Sprint does in that area based on your results.

Actually, Sprint is one of the worst carriers coverage wise here in northwest Arkansas. AT&T is our number one, followed by Verizon and I haven't observed a difference between T-Mobile and Sprint.

Wow....never thought this was going to be possible on a Sprint iPhone:
    Ping: 300ms
    Download: 1.21 Mbps
    Upload: 0.57 Mbps

I wouldn't be bragging about those speeds.
Which is why I'm most likely switching to AT&T here pretty soon...

Ha!! I thought it was just me, but yes, my iPhone with AT&T lasts a lot longer than the sprint iPhone I had. I'm so happy I left them.

Sprint's 3G can be fast(see pic). Granted it is slow as a whole, but this is the reason why I can be patient with them. They are actually working on upgrading their towers and will hopefully see LTE with a 100Mb download speed backbone(Verizon has only a 50Mb download speed backbone) in my area(Springfield, Missouri) around January with UNLIMITED data! All those that switched to AT&T or Verizon will soon regret their decision.

I live in Miami (Kendall) by tamiami airport. I'm actually close to a tower. I've been hearing and reading that Sprint will soon be deploying better 3G and LTE here. I know many who are already picking up eHRPD. I'm constantly doing speed tests. Check out these speeds I picked up this morning when I was walking my dog. I hope Sprint's LTE in Miami will soon be deployed. Im using an iPhone 5.

Yeah but LTE hasn't been deployed here yet. As you can see I was on 3G...shouldn't it have switched to LTE? I have my LTE turned on. If these are the constant speeds ill be getting with sprint on LTE I won't be switching to Verizon then 😄

For a cell phone, that speed is more than adequate to stream music and videos with little to no trouble at all.

3G is half the speed of my (very slow) wifi connection and LTE blows it out of the water, but I'm happy with my 3G speeds.

Just for fun, here's LTE. I've had better speed tests but this is right now, in my living room

Those LTE speeds are nice. I hope deployment in Miami is coming soon. With speeds like that I won't be switching to AT&T/Verizon no more.

I've had LTE speeds as slow as 8.9 Mbps and as quick as 18 Mbps. Not as fast as I've seen some other carriers but it does the job. I mean, a phone can only handle so much in regards to speed - so it feels lightning fast to me

Note: I happen to live in the one area of Dallas that has always had really good signal - I live about a mile and a half away from a tower and had great WiMAX speeds too. So ymmv

Yeah, no way in hell that's 3G on sprint, it has to be LTE, Sprint said jn its last press release that some customer might see LTE coverage before the service is officially launched, so I guess you got lucky, for a good LTE 11mbps is not that fast but that's a very good speed anyway and you shouldn't have any problems doing anything with your phone

    Best I've gotten

Sprint LTE became live today in many parts of Miami including Boca Raton. I'm sure once fully deployed speeds will decrease. Honestly I can live with half of this. Give or take with an average of 10-13mb on download you can pretty much do anything with it.

This is obvious that your wifi router is complere garbage or you have bad service for it because GOOD WIFI always and i mean just about always blows everything else out the water. I have comcast and just bought a new router a few months back and i went from kbs down and up to about 20ish down and 5+ up if everyone else in the house gets off the wifi
