Another reason not to get rid of unlimited data

I have an AT&T Premiere account (with a FAN number from my school where I work).

I currently get my 20% discount on my phone plan and my data plan. My wife (who was on another line on the family plan) switched to the 200MB plan ($15) and didn't get the 20% FAN discount.

My brother in law (on another line in the family plan) was originally on the unlimited data (with the 20% discount), then removed his account. After trying a different phone service, he signed up again. The unlimited was no longer available, so he signed up for the 3GB plan, also $30, but he didn't get the 20% discount with that.

So if anyone is getting a FAN discount on the data plan, it looks like you loose those under the new data plans.

I believe this all depends on your company. At the Hospital that I work in we get a 24% discount off of both voice and data, it doesn't matter which data plan you sign up with.

Same here. An AT&T rep did say that data plans $30 or higher do qualify for the discount. (just went from the $25-2gb to $30-3gb plan) have to see the new vs old bills to see if that is correct.

I would lose my discount if I switched. No incentive for me to give up my unlimited data if it will end up costing me more for a tiered plan.

That is weird, I have unlimited data @ $30/ month with 20% discount and a 2gb @$25 and it also gets the 20% discount. The only part of my plan that does not get the discount is the $9.99 add a line fee for voice. Even the $30 unlimited family texting gets the 20% off.

I have e family members on our plan together. My wife and I both get the 20% discount on our respective line. My daughter only has the 200MB plan at $20 a month so as a employee with att I called out special employee line to inquire why that was. I was told that it takes a $30 or $35 a month data plan to qualify for the discount on the line. Thats all I know
