AT&T to offer 'incentives' to customers willing to limit data usage -- Engadget

So everybody's heard that Ralph de la Vega is trying to figure out how to limit data usage, whether it's by additional fees, or whatever. What's you're take on it?

I agree with the concept, but to execute a plan will pretty much backfire. You can't charge $1.00 for a gallon of gas when demand can support $4.00. But to do implement is suicide.

I'd much prefer a tiered pricing system for data. I really don't use that much a month compared to a lot of people here.

I had to go back and check, last month I used 100mb of data. Compared to those using gigs of data I think I should pay less for less usage.

Maybe once 7.2 comes out they can start charging by speed like they do the DSL lines? If you want 3 mbps you pay $30 a month, 7.2 will cost you $40.

I think I'll stick with unlimited! I just checked, and it seems I've used thus far, 1.1GB. What on earth have I been downloading? Honestly...

i'm in the 125-150mb per month category and wouldn't mind seeing a tiered pricing structure...

I average 500 megs a month and would welcome tiered data pricing, but only if it begins lower than 30 bucks a month. If voice is tiered, why not data?
