I am curious, is anyone on a grandfathered AT&T plan, and was able to get an iPhone while remaining on that plan? A grandfathered plan is simply one that is no longer offered (in terms of price, number of minutes, features, etc).

I have been told that if you are on a grandfathered plan, you must get OFF of that plan (and choose a new one) to get an iPhone. I doubt the veracity of this statement, and I wanted to check to see if anyone can refute or confirm it.

    Thanks!

You need to be on a iPhone plan. Plain and simple.

I've been using a grandfathered voice plan since i got my first gen iphone on day 1. I had to switch to the iPhone data plan, but that was actually cheaper than the one I was on.
