Since upgrading to iOS 14.0.1, in both of my vehicles CarPlay keeps forcing the vehicle to switch from whatever audio source is playing to CarPlay. Both use wireless CarPlay and neither vehicle has had a software update or any changes since this started.

Generally it happens within a few seconds of the connection, and then randomly throughout a drive when doing something on the phone or when there is some sort of an alert.

Initially, I thought it could have been a Waze issue (Waze had an update around the same time as iOS 14.0.1 came out) but I have turned off all audio notifications from Waze and it still seems to be happening. I did not experience this issue previously, including with iOS 14.0.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

    Thanks.

This would definitely be frustrating! CarPlay is still really new to me, but happily, I'm not experiencing this in my Subaru Outback.

I drive a 2019 BMW and it has wireless CarPlay. Having said that, I’ve not encountered a situation like the one you’ve described. If I want to listen to FM radio, I can and if it was the last audio source selected when I exited the car, it will be the source selected when re-entering the car. Granted, I’m currently running iOS 14.2, but it was same with the previous dev beta. I don’t think Ive ever installed iOS 14.0.1.

I guess the OP's question is related to more than one car registered in CarPlay in the same device?

2020 Mazda CX-5 wireless CarPlay here and so far no issue. My wife's car has an aftermarket unit (which IMO so much better than OEM unit :-) but we are not sharing our mobile devices (for no particular reason).
I wonder if OP might hard wire his phone via USB connection and see what happens. Bluetooth connection is often finicky. When I have time, I might register my wife's car and see what happens.

Both cars are BMWs with wireless CarPlay (one is iDrive 6 that will be replaced this week with a new car with iDrive 7 and the other is iDrive 7). Both have worked flawlessly with CarPlay, so iOS 14 introduced some change/bug itself or with an app that has caused this. It is consistent across both cars; just odd that others aren’t seen it because for me it is clearly something that came with iOS 14.
