So are comics simply a quick little story to make us laugh or thought provoke (think political cartoon), OR are they "Graphic Novels" a long story with an in-depth plot and on going storyline? Or both?

Check out this series from iMore...

I think it's both, I have enjoyed both! I follow the Pixel Project, and I LOVE political cartoons especially in "Trump's America" lol I also love following a good story in a graphic novel through either a collection OR by following a series in a comic book line. In the 90ies I absolutely fell in LOVE with the Sandman comic!

So what do you all think? Cute little distractions, or graphic novels? OR BOTH?

I don't have a preference. Probably graphic novel wins out because regular comic books are over soon quickly. I can read one in 5-10 minutes.

An argument can be made for both. As a teenager, I read more comic books than I can ever recall, but that was a very long time ago, and I can even begin to tell you when the last time I read one.

I think those names are total misnomers. They are the same thing. "Graphic Novel" is usually just used by people who are embarrassed to say "comic books." The only distinction I've ever made is that a single issue is a "comic book" and that a collected story is a "graphic novel" ex: a single issue of The Watchmen is a comic, but the collected volume is a graphic novel. But ultimately you're arguing semantics about the medium.

To answer your question, of course they can and should be both! Why allow the medium to limit itself? There are countless thought provoking, deep comic book stories, but there's also nothing wrong with a good popcorn comic once in a while.

I love to read. Basically, that's what I am doing all the time beside video games. But its harder because most of the apps that let us read graphic novels and comics asking for money for the rest of the book when I finishing half of the book. I love to know is there any free apps for reading anything. Like I said I love to read and read almost everything.

Currently, I am reading a graphic novel in webtoon app.
