Well, BBM does have some credibility being one of the most popular messengers even before messengers were the vogue thing. It thrived on the security of Blackberry's servers, and had good fluidity which to me is better than Whatsapp's, even now.
I might even go as far as saying the iOS and Android versions of BBM are head and shoulders above Whatsapp.
