Ok so looks like I had to find my own answer.

With BBM™ Groups, you can plan events, share pictures, and chat with up to 30 of your friends at the same time.

So its only 30 people max. If more than that tries to join it will accept it. I WAS in the group but some how got kicked and someone else must have took the spot. Thats why I am having issues, as well as others.
