Problem restoring a macbook pro

I have a 2008 macbook pro. I am trying to restore it from a Bootable clone done with carbon copy. The clone drive is 200gb but only half full. The drive in my laptop is a 160gb. When I try to restore it gives me an error not enough room.

When I booted up from the clone drive, it shows 99gb used.

What's wrong?

You might need to check with the developer of the app. I'm not an expert at disk cloning, so like you I tend to think if you have enough space, you have enough space, but there might be a reason why you need size parity as well.
