I’m learning to mend my ameri-centric thinking. I saw your weather in Montreal 0 degrees and immediately thought that’s 32 degrees in Fahrenheit. .

That’s not too bad given Chicago was -3 Fahrenheit tonight.

It’s been about 14 years that I’m here in Tampa area. This will be the coldest two days I’ve experienced. I can’t remember when it’s dropped to below 32(0 in Celsius) Urgh My well water pipes and my water filtering softening system pipes are exposed and completely un-insulated. My landscaping plants will not survive a hard freeze. 60+ sprinkler heads that some will not take a hard freeze.

Wasn’t there a winter when it fell below freezing in Florida in the late naughties, early tens (2008-2011 is what I have in mind)?

It’s below freezing currently in the Charlotte area. Highs in the mid 40s. Tomorrow, we won’t make it above freezing.

Because of the high winds, the snow has drifted - making it look worse than it is. But… my boots are in my car!

This morning's commute was slippery. I had about 5-10cm of snow on my car, and it was still snowing. 10 minutes later, we had freezing rain and then rain.

Wasn’t there a winter when it fell below freezing in Florida in the late naughties, early tens (2008-2011 is what I have in mind)?

You have the time about right, 2009 I believe, and fortunately I missed it. My neighbors speak of that crazy hard freeze that happened like 4 days in a row.
These next two nights will not be that but to me it is still freakin cold! . We won’t hit 50 the next two days. Weather is very relative, I know that isn’t that cold to many but when your blood is Florida peninsula thin? It is brutal. (Fortunately we have a long spell of near 80 starting Wednesday).
