iPad: Add attachment to an email files app horror

I tried to add a PDF that was in iBooks to an email. It opens the damn Files app. The files app is completely baffling to me. I’ve read how to use it on Apple, on wikiHow. From what I can tell it’s some kind of business thing that I don’t need and would never use. When I open my Files app it’s full of blank thumbnails and all these PDFs of pictures I have in iBooks. But text documents don’t seem to be there. I have never used it so I’m wondering is it so awful because I didn’t set it up in some way? And if so is there some simple thing I can do so that it will work when I need to add an attachment to an email? Thanks.
PS I’m not looking for a tutorial on how to USE the Files app. I can do everything I need to do without it except for this attachment thing. Thx.

From within the Files app, tap on “Select” in the upper right corner and then select the pdf you want to attach. Afterwards, select the share icon (first icon at the bottom) and then select Mail and go from there.

Welcome to iMore

The easy to use instructions are listed above but if your still finding it difficult you can jerry rig it by taking a screenshot of the PDF and then attach the photo to your E-mail

I’m not having this issue. When I want to share a PDF stored in my iBooks library, I do the following:

1. I open iBooks, tap library and select the document I want to share. I tap anywhere on the documents until a small menu opens. From that I tap share.

2. I then select email...

3. An email message window will open, where you can enter the email address you want to send the document to. Type in a message and hit send. Your document will be off to your desired destination.

I’ve got no “select“ in the upper right hand corner. I’ve got the share button and I’ve got the markup icon.

Can you post a screenshot so that we can get an idea of what you're seeing? That might be able to help us help you figure it out!
