Say in the past few years I've uploaded several thousand images and videos to Photos on my Desktop Mac. Recently, I've purchased 200 GB of storage space in iCloud on my iPhone to get the photos and videos there. Moving all my photos and videos is taking a long time due to the fact that I can only access my Mac on the weekends (only about 2.5k to go!). I'm going to sort through the photos, and delete some from my iPhone. So, to make sure that it won't be deleted from my Mac, I'm planning on un-linking it from iCloud. My question is, will all the images that were put in iCloud Photo stay there? What will happen if I disconnect my Photos on my Mac from iCloud? Because I cannot do this again.

I’m not a Mac user but doesn’t the Mac have Airdrop if so you could have skipped iCloud all together
