What are the vulnerabilities related to SMS texts?

Mainly concerned about this security step when used at bank logins.

Some hackers are able to obtain a replacement SIM card with your phone number. If they also have your log in credentials they could in theory access your bank account.

So far I haven’t read any reports that this is a main spread vulnerability.

Thanks for the reply. ...It's curious thinking about the prospect of a hacker obtaining a replacement SIM where the telecom provider is socially engineered into providing a SIM replacement to someone other than the correct account holder.
But, can SIMs be surreptitiously and illegally manufactured, which also begs the question about how do telecoms control the SIM manufacturing?

I wouldn’t know.
