hey thnks but in the end i still had to put in a credit card


btw i read here somewhere about some asking if people could see yr apple id when they called or txted theres a setting in there you can uncheck that and they will only see yr phone number

Go to Settings → Messages → Send & Receive

Uncheck everything except the phone number.

FWIW instead of adding a credit card, I added an iTunes gift card. And even better, when the monthly charge for my extra iCloud storage comes through, it’s applied to my gift card balance!

I believe at this point in time you can create a new  ID without a payment source, but if you're already logged into your account then there's nothing you can do about it.

But I'd suggest the gift card option.

No it does not. You’ll want to go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, then select Add Card.

I use a prepaid card with a very limited amount of funds on it,only ever topped up with cash.
