    No matter what wireless hard drives are out there, they most likely aren’t going to be compatible with any iPad at this point in iOS for the iPad.

    That’s not true! I don’t know about all wireless drives, but the WD My Cloud drives come with an iOS app that allows you to browse through the folder structure and open most files. Even MS docs can be opened by selecting to open them using Pages, Numbers or Keynote.
