How did I make the apps rotate like a carousel?

I picked up my new 8 plus this morning and it looked like all my apps were rotating like on a Carousel. How do I do that again? Apple newbie, obviously

You double clicked the round button on the bottom of your screen.

If it's what Tartarus said, it's multitasking. You can switch from one app to another there. You can also force close apps by swiping them up and out.
