Does iTunes Match only match anything other than iTunes purchases

Does iTunes Match match everything except iTunes purchases so cds songs I’ve ripped from other places etc. also it matches lower quality iTunes purchases but not higher quality iTunes purchased songs as there’s no point it matching iTunes purchased songs as it would be matching on itself

Is this correct

I used it years ago to replace my ripped CDs with the same quality music that iTunes Music Store provided. I had always let iTunes provide the ID3 data when ripping them so they were able to match easy.

yeah if you've already purchased them, they're matched. you could always delete them from your system and redownload to get the latest file.

Yeah it uploads them as are if they can’t find the matching album or song right
