I just updated my X to the latest iOS and iTunes and after clicking sync, it backs up but then stalls on ‘reading photos....’ from the external drive it always reads from. Virus scan, drive troubleshooting, norton update, check/uncheck sync all photos from..., etc. nothing fixes it. The drive reads/writes fine otherwise.

    Any ideas?

I’m in the middle of copying the photos to another thumb drive so I can see if iTunes syncs after pointing it to that location, which will rule out the drive once and for all, but I figured I’d ask everyone else.

    Thanks

Kanaka, I just read on Apple forum that 12.7.4.76 and iOS 11.3 cause the sync to stall on ‘reading photos from....’ and there is no fix or workaround other than downgrading to 12.3

    Sucks for you.

So you already have the latest iOS, BUT do you have the latest iTunes? Double check that, it can SOMETIMES fix backup/sync issues.

Yeah. Newest iTunes. Tried syncing to those fotos/folder copied to another usb drive and also on the same pc desktop. Just stalls. That rules out usb device and or port issues. Arrg

Thanks kanaka. That was a great help. I didn’t know that was a known issue. Sucks for me alright.
