How do I find which version iPad my husband has?

Settings > general > about. Then look at the model line.

Once you have the model number then do a Google search of it and you'll see from the results exactly what one you have. I just did mine and Google correctly identified it (by the results) as a T-Mobile Black 128 7 Plus.
