    Hello,

I tried to transfer my iMessage history from my old MacBook Pro Retina (circa late 2012) to my new MacBook Pro (2017 model) following the directions below:

However, I have hit a snag. The chat.db file appears to be missing from my old MacBook Pro. This fact has a thrown a wrench in the whole process. How can I transfer my iMessage history from my old MacBook Pro to my new one?

Hmmm....I just check for a chat.db file on my 2017 MacBook Pro via the ~Library/Messages folder and it was present. With that in mind, did you mistakenly delete it? If you have multiple logins, have you signed in via the account you typically chat from?
