Those were the pioneer days of online computing. I don’t think I could have imagined back then, paying per minute for dial up, that we’d be where we are today. Fun to think back...

Pioneering days, indeed. Now look how far we’ve come. Compuserve, Prodigy, AOL were the closest things to having a web interface back then....

My father in-law still uses AOL. Pretty sure he is their last and only surviving customer.

I’m surprised they survived after all this time.

Oh, I most definitely remember Eudora! I can’t be sure, but it might’ve been the client I used when I bought my first home PC in 1997 or thereabouts. Good times!

My husband has a Commodore 128, still working (he said last time he checked it was), in the original box. I wanted to take a photo of the box, but there's so much crap in his office that if I go in I may never be found again. Not willing to risk it lol.

I still have a Macintosh Plus from 1986 sitting in my closet. Haven't powered it up in years.

Now I refuse to believe that I’m the only person in all of iMore who used this email program on my computers back in the day....(Laughing)
You are not alone. I used it for a few years

If you follow the history you can say it did not disappear as Eudora did via Mozilla and the support plus independence Firefox has.

Sure I always figured out what html code meant but I don't want to go back to such low function across the Internet. Mobile technology is so important that I appreciate modern browsers, responsive design and less dependency on specific apps or mobile sites.

For me any missing Netscape is just some nostalgia.

That may be so, but there’s no mistaking the importance that Netscape played in the lives of those of us who issued it faithfully.
