Trying to share ripped music to child's device

I have added some CDs to iTunes, and then I also have family sharing enabled for our family's devices. What I want to do is be able to play the music I've got in iTunes independently on one of my child's devices. When I try to download it on my device I can download the songs, but on the child devices it doesn't show hardly anything available to download. Is there something else I need to do?

You have to do it in iTunes from your computer. Ripped music doesn’t go into the cloud.
