Previously, I used to perform the following steps to a group of MP3s to "convert" them to audiobooks (that hold my place where I stopped off, etc.) in iTunes:

    1. Right click on group of MP3s in itunes -> "Get Info"
    2. Change file type to "Audiobook"
    3. Check "Album is a Compilation of songs"

After performing these steps, they showed up as audiobooks in the "iBooks" app on my phone.

However, now, when I do this, the files simply disappear. No searching in itunes will find them, and they also do not show up in iBooks on either my computer or my phone (after syncing phone).

    Advice / help?

    iTunes 12.7 on mac
    iPhone 5S with iOS 11.0.3

EDIT: I discovered I had to re-check "Sync Audiobooks" in the audiobooks tab with my phone. Apparently along the way / upgrades it became unchecked. Thanks!
