What is the better deal iPad 9.7 vs ipad mini 4

My son needs to a new ipad he currently has a ipad mini 2. Best buy will have the ipad 9.7 32 gig for 250 dollars and ipad mini 4 128 gig for 275 dollars. My understanding is that the 9.7 model has newer hardware compared to the ipad mini 4. If this is correct which would be a better purchase?

That's my biggest concern. Right now his iPad is 32 gigs. It works but 64 gig would be ideal especially since the new operating software eats up quite a bit of space.

The 9.7” is a better deal IMO, and I doubt your son will use up all 32GB.

32GB is enough for a kid. You should go for the iPad 9.7, as it has the best value. The new operating system (iOS 11) does not eat up more space than previous versions, it’s actually smaller!

The better deal is the one for the iPad Mini 4 with 4x the storage, especially if your son plans on saving a good deal of items ‘on the device’. With that in mind, the 9.7” iPad is the better device so if he can utilize cloud services in conjunction with the available on device storage then that is the one you should get, in my opinion.

My iPad mini is my favorite iPad. It’s the perfect size imo. I know I am in the minority. I have the 4 and realize it will probably be the last one made.

I totally agree!!! It fits perfectly in my purse, when I need to take it on the go. I absolutely love the convenience of it. I still have the 2. I don’t update my iPads like I do my phones. I might get the 4 soon, since it’s probably the last Mini.

I personally would go for the mini 4. The $250 iPad 9.7” is only 32gb. Why Apple still sells ANYTHING with 32gb is beyond me. The mini 4 is 128gb. The mini 4 has a smaller, but higher quality, screen.

Also, iOS 11.1.2 runs just fine on the mini 4. Faster than 10.3.3 in fact.

I took advantage of that sale and purchased the iPad 32gb. I love the iPad and I loved the price even more!!
