Is there a way to recover a deleted iPhone backup file?

I created a backup file then installed IOS 10.3. There was an issue restoring from backup and upon starting the process over iTunes started syncing and replaced my backup file with one from an empty phone with a new OS. I wasn't concerned until I learned that iTunes does not keep multiple backups, only the last one. . I would like to know if my photos are gone forever.

iTunes does keep multiple backups. By the way, I'm assuming you created an iTunes backup using a mac. With that in mind, see the information below.

1. Open iTunes. Click iTunes in the menu bar, then choose Preferences.
2. Click Devices.
3. Control-click the backup that you want, then choose Show in Finder.
