So I am considering to move my parents to IOS this Christmas, but 8 and X are probably going to be too expensive. Is it "safe" to buy a 6s or maybe even a 6, or should I avoid anything older than 7?

They are not advanced users, and most of their usage is probably going to be mail, calling/SMS, Facebook/messenger and camera.

I would recommend the 6s. If you can afford the 7, that’d be great.

I agree, I wouldn’t go back further than the iPhone 6S.

I third the iPhone 6S! Definitely a good daily driver and first time iOS device!

I know you didn't mention it, but the iPhone SE is a super viable choice as well!

Most of my family members are still using the iPhone 6, and it can be seen that it’s struggling when running iOS 11.

Thanks, I'll go for the 6s then, and perhaps push it to the 7 if I can.
