Left job and disconnected Exchange account on 1 of 2 devices
I left my job and promptly disconnected my Exchange account from my personal iPhone only to realize that I had been entering personal contacts and calendar events via Exchange for almost the past year. Now all the contacts and appointments are gone :concern:
However, I had the Exchange account active on my iPad as well, so I promptly put my iPad in airplane mode and did not disconnect the respective Exchange connection. I'm paralyzed now because I can see my Exchange account contact details on the iPad, but I assume that as soon as I allow iPad to go online (even to download an app to capture contacts) they will disappear. Is my only option to manually transcribe the data?
I backed up my iPhone (not iPad) before leaving the company, but wasn't smart enough to secure the migration of contacts. Now my phone is void of the contacts and I can see them preserved on my iPad, but not sure what my options are. Suggestions?
The company I worked for has robust security protocols including authorization to remotely wipe my personal devices that were connected to servers, but I don't think they did this...it was just poor planning/foresight on my part.

Start typing the contacts in manually. That is your solution.

Reality bites. Thank you for clarifying how this weekend is going to play out.

Hey knowledgeinhaler I handle the mobile devices and MDM for my company and SwitchBeach is right to tell you to just start typing them. When you are connected to active sync exchange those contacts are on the server and not physically on the device so even if the exchange admin didn't send a wipe command to your device you still wouldn't be able to offload them or save them to another account. Now if you are in good with someone in IT at the old job I would ask them if they can either do a csv export of your contacts and send it to you. If they are kind enough to do that you can then upload them to whatever account you want them on.

10-4 SwitchBeach I hear you. At the risk of being disrespectful I wanted to put one more idea on the table.
Is AirDrop (from iPad to iPhone or MacBook Pro) an option?

crpmp007 - I do have friends in "high" places with admin rights, but the company would annihilate anyone they suspected of such activity. And I couldn't live with myself if that sort of favor impacted their job security...but thought crossed my mind.

If your contacts are on your iPad, export them in a vcf (vCard) to your email. Then add to your phone contacts.
You can use this app on your iPad to create the vCard.
SA Contacts - Export/Import contacts to/from Excel by Sam Yu

It works. I just tested it. Be sure to choose vcf in the App.

If you see the contacts on the iPad, screenshot them all so you have a copy. Are they listed in your contacts? Where do you see them? Why do you think they would disappear? You said you didn't disconnect the exchange account on iPad.
You have nothing to lose, as long as you have a copy. If need be, you can do as suggested and add them in manually. Most important ones first. Then a few each day.
I'm not familiar with exchange accounts.
Can you add them to Gmail? Are all your contacts exchange?

Oh, maaan, it's a fail. That is why it is better to work in one company for a long time, hahah.
