I’m assuming you’re trying to backup via iCloud. If so, is the device plugged in and connected to your Wi-Fi network AND does the network have an active internet connection?

Do you have enough storage space in iCloud for a back up?

Sure. Just initiate the computer’s iTunes app and create an iTunes backup.

For iCloud, maybe your back up size was too big for your available storage in iCloud.

Yes I agree but it is greyed out and won't change with just 1.1 gig of photos

Make sure you are connected to Wifi.
And do you have Restrictions turned on? Make sure it is off.

I removed it from my pic and reinstalled it to see if the greyed out back up would change and it was still greyed out

Do you mean the iTunes Store app? I still don't follow you. What, exactly, did you do?

I mean the iTunes program that you use to back up restore and load music 12.6 I uninstalled it thinking that there might be a glitch in the program and reinstalled it

Apple lightening cables are proprietary. If you are not using either the charging cable that came with your phone, or another one purchased directly from Apple then you will have this type of issue.

I've been using 3rd party cables for years with no issues whatsoever. They are Mfi certified.

Good for you!! However, it does not work for everyone with every charing cable. Tons of them on Amazon and other stores say that they're Mifi certified when they are in fact, not.

    Agreed.
I have used a lot of MFi cables back in the day and this is the reason that I have stopped doing that and started buying original  Lightning cables.
It costs a little more but sure doesn’t give me any issues.

Those I've used have been great. Apple doesn't offer a 10' cable. I have just as many issues with the Apple cables as with any of them. Mostly from wear and tear.

I have the 2mtr cable for in the living room and 5 original cables scattered around the house and one in 1 my backpack / jacket.

I have bought this flat 2mtr extension power cord for when the 2mtr lightning cable is not long enough.
That’s the best way to solve the length issue, because the longer an usb cable (no matter what brand) the worse the quality of signal and current transfer.
