Photos 2.0 on macOS Sierra no longer imports photos via USB
For about two months now, I've been unable to import photos using Photos 2.0 on macOS Sierra. My device, a iPhone 6S running iOS 10.3.3, is connected via a USB cable. The device is seen fine and I can see the photos to import but when I select "Import new photos", I only see an empty circle next to the sizing bar and the circle never fills in.
The number of photos doesn't matter - one photo on the iPhone or many, the same behavior occurs. I can use AirDrop to copy the photos over but that's less convenient.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Hopefully, I will have a MacBook running macOS Sierra, but until then, I hope someone who’s already using macOS Sierra will be along to answer your question soon.
