Trying to figure out limitations to working with documents (word mostly) saved in iCloud when offline with iOS 10 on iPad or iphone.
It appears that a document is only saved to the idevice after it has been opened the first time on the idevice while there is a data connection. But then after that initial opening the document is stored on the idevice and can be edited at a later date even if idevice is now offline. And when the idevice later has a data connection the edited document is synced with iCloud.
    Is that about correct?

    Hi, welcome to imore,

That sounds pretty correct to me, yes.
Files that haven’t been downloaded to the iDevice have a cloud in the upper right corner of their icon.
