Does Apple Pencil need to be reconnected all of the time?

My Apple Pencil needs to be reconnected for a second every time I need to use it. Is this normal?

Hello Susan

Apple pencil works with bluetooth on, you connect, it pairs with your iPad and that´s it.
But if you turn off your blueetooth, and then on and try to use your Pencil, yes you will have to connect it for a second so it works again. That´s normal, it happens to me too all the time.

Thanks. Not turning off the Bluetooth, but powering off occasionally. I think that's it.
