    Hello everyone. I will purchase the new MacBook Pro 2016 with the 2.6 processor and 512 ssd. I don't *know if I should go for the 450 or the 460 though.*

    I will video edit 4k daily on fcpx or almost daily and I will do wordpress and probably some graphic design in the immediate future.

    Logically I should go for the 460.

    But the question is if it overheates more than the 450 and if that affects the*

    * battery life
    * the fan noise*
    * and if it throttles

    Because if it affects the fan, the battery and it throttles then I would be better off with the 450.*

    What does everyone think. What do the reports say and what are your personal experiences.

    Thanks everyone.*

    Welcome to iMore.

    I suggest going with the 460 especially since you are going to be editing on a daily basis. The 460 will help render your 4k faster thereby putting less stress on your machine. Your fans are going to run when they need too. And whether you have the 450 or 460 will make no difference. The fans will run at the same speed. The difference will be how long they run for. The 460 will run for a shorter amount of time.

    The most obvious use of the GPU is for editing 4k video with multiple effects layered on it. Just clipping the footage together on the timeline only uses the CPU, so that's not a concern, but once you're messing with the grain, the exposure, adding any motion graphics on top, doing in-depth colour adjustments, image stabilization effects, then the GPU comes in.

    For 4K video, the extra 2 gigs of vRAM on the 460 is really going to eliminate lag, and the increased clock will mean effects apply faster, and can be done across larger canvasses with ease

    So if you have the money, I would go with the 460, it will also last you for longer if you intend on keeping the MacBook for 5+ years. šŸ˜ƒ

    Spot on. Great stuff. So any reports on overheating for the 460?

    I personally haven't heard of any problems. The GPU will also help if you are linking up multiple monitors. Just makes life easier. If there are any problems (not likely), a simple update of the OS should fix things.
