2fa between iphone and windows pc?

I've had my iphone 6s plus for awhile now and when i got it, it said i needed to authenticate it with another apple device with my account. problem is i only have an iphone. i tried logging in to icloud on my pc but nothing pooped up when i tried to authenticate my phone. What am i doing wrong?

That's two factor authorisation which will ask you to confirm anytime you sign into your Apple account. Another Apple device on your account will receive a code which you need to enter on the device you're logging in on.

You can also do this using trusted phone numbers.
