Why closes an application automatically in the background?

I work with an iPhone 7 and I have installed the Portgo application that I use to open my door and receive calls from my videophone.
The problem is that the app sometimes closes automatically. Therefore I can't receive anymore calls from the door phone.
How can I solve this?

Hi, welcome to iMore.

First make sure the app is enabled under Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

If the app still doesn't function properly after staying idle too long, then simply open the app every once in a while if you get the feeling it closed.
