Is it possible to change a Model Identifier on an iPhone 7 Plus?

iMore Question

I have an iPhone 7 Plus, and a while ago I restored it with an iOS 10.2 IPSW file. Since there are two model identifiers possible for iPhone 7 Plus (iPhone (9,2) and iPhone (9,4)), and I forgot what my identifier was before I restored, I am wondering this: does Apple allow to restore using incorrect software? for example, accidentally using a 9,4 IPSW instead of a 9,2, could that change the identifier? Thanks in advance

Maybe, but if it were me, I'd do a clean auto-install via iTunes and allow it to install the correct version.
